Knappgården Fjällpension / Fjällhotel is located at the highest point of Särnaheden with magnificent views over northern Dalarna’s fjälls/mountains and Österdalälven river meandering below.

The pension/hotel is run by Annika and Kjelle.

Kjelle re-trained to chef after 10 years as a hairdresser in Stockholm. For a committed fisherman and hunter the raw ingredients are obviously key, and already during his studies he was selected to the final of ‘ Årets Viltkock’ (This year’s Game Chef) in Haparanda in competition with many highly acclaimed chefs. After that Kjelle has not competed but nevertheless delighted with his cooking in reputable restaurants such as on small expedition boats.

Annika started her catering career as a 15 year old first in Bohuslän, in her home county, followed by ski seasons in Sälen and Åre then Breckenridge in Colorado before she moved to Knappgården and Särnaheden in 1987. She completed her education in catering at The school of culinary arts in Grythyttan studying for sommelier and service, learning marketing in Gothenburg and working on the west coast of Sweden as restaurant manager.

Now we are back at Knappgården where we first started our joint culinary journey , with lots of experience keen to share our love of food with you.
